Music
At Oughtibridge, musical skills are taught regularly in weekly lessons following the requirements of the National Curriculum. The varied nature of music is also appreciated through links to literature, art, science, maths, ICT and dance. Children listen to a wide range of music, past and present and from different cultures, in assembly times.
Children have many opportunities to learn to play instruments within school. Visiting music specialists from the Sheffield Music Service teach a variety of instruments to children on a group basis (for which there is a charge). Weekly singing sessions are held for both Foundation/Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and there is a choir in Key Stage 2. The children are encouraged to perform for the school, parents and the wider community.
