Physical Education (P.E.)
At Oughtibridge School we recognise that PE is a crucial part of a child’s primary education, which helps them to lead a full healthy and active life. Through a variety of fun and enjoyable activities, we aim to enable pupils to realise their full potential, develop skills, improve body awareness, appreciate creative performance and promote an enthusiasm for lifelong activity and fitness.
We have two halls within which we can teach PE. We also have plenty of outside space, there are two yards for Key Stage 2, one for Key Stage 1 and a large field which can be used weather permitting! In both key stages there is a long-term plan ensuring a broad coverage of all aspects of PE. This includes games, gymnastics, dance, athletics, swimming and outdoor and adventurous activities.
We have fully qualified instructors who come into school to support some areas of the curriculum such as lacrosse and football. We believe this motivates the children, gives them positive role models and enriches their experience of the curriculum.
Regular sports festivals are held, which allow our children the experience of meeting and competing against other children at different venues. Most year groups are given this opportunity and thoroughly enjoy it.
A sports day is organised annually in both key stages, which includes and values all children and encourages parents to come along and have fun.
We offer a wide variety of extra-curricular activities which include football, netball, line dancing, basketball and running. Most of these clubs offer the children a chance to compete against other schools in festivals, leagues and tournaments.
