English Week 2008

This year’s English Week took place in March to coincide with World Book Day. It also included the children finding out more about Diversity. Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage found out about the way of life in the Caribbean, the food they eat and the things they do. The Y3/4 classes found out about how life in Britain was so different for immigrants coming from the West Indies in the 1950s and the Y5/6 classes went further back in history to find out about the slave trade. The week’s activities were inspired by the ‘Primary Colours’ Company, providing stimuli for improving the pupils’ drama skills, reading and writing.

We also had a visit from the poet Matt Black who entertained us with his funny poems about everyday life.
