NEWSLETTER FOR WEEK BEGINNING
Thursday 2nd September 2010

GENERAL INFORMATION

Class with the best attendance last week was – Y3/4BW
Raffle ticket winner last week was – Elizabeth Clarke
Well done!

We are hoping to be part of the ‘Bike It’ project next year and would really appreciate some ‘extreme cyclist’ photographs for a display to encourage people to cycle! Please send any contributions to the school office with a name on the back in order that we can return your photograph.

Y5/6FM won the inter class multi sports afternoon beating Y5/6CD and Y5/6MD with their prowess in the sporting field. Well done.

Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend the Y6 Leavers’ Assembly. It was good to see so many of you there. The few groups who were unable to perform their sketches yesterday did so in the whole school final assembly this morning. Good luck and all the best to our Y6 children.

Please note that the cost of school lunches will increase to £1.92 per day/£9.60 per week when we return in September.

Certificates have been handed out for attendance today. 22 children received a gold certificate for 100% attendance, 24 received a silver certificate for 100% over 2 terms and 32 bronze certificates for 100% during the summer term. Well done to you all!

Our attendance for the whole year was 96.1% with 1255 days lost due to illness and 750 days of additional leave of absence (mainly due to holidays taken in term time!). Our attendance target for next year is 95.9%.

Congratulations to Kirsty Longden who won the wonderful SOS Summer Hamper. A total of £160 has been raised!

We will need volunteers to wash the fruit for the KS1 children from September. If you are able to stay at school for 10 minutes after you have dropped your child off to wash and distribute the fruit to the classes please let the Coumes office know.

The response to the Screen Printing Art Club being run by Mr Askham has been excellent. Letters will be sent home to all who have replied when school returns in September to confirm when they will start the club.

Just to remind you that if you take any holidays during the first 2 weeks in September these cannot be authorised. Any holiday requests that have been sent into school for the next academic year will be processed when we return in September.

We hope that you all have a lovely summer break and school reopens on Thursday 2nd September.
