The School Council in KS2 are visiting Ecclesfield Primary School on Monday. They will be setting off after registration and will be back for the end of the day. The children will need to take a packed lunch, their PE kit and a coat with them. They need to be in school uniform and have their school council tabard with them. I am sure they will have a great day having a look at what the inside of another school looks like.
I am very pleased to say that the Y5 poetry work done with the poet Matt Black has been published in an anthology. The anthology contains work from children in other Sheffield schools and has been done as part of a project with the School Travel Team looking at teaching children that walking and cycling keeps us fit. Jane Burbidge our Travel Plan Advisor visits the school regularly, she works with the children across the school getting across the message that we need to look after our environment. She has kindly lent us a badge maker and board games to support our Environment Week.
A praise postcard has been sent home to Thomas Hewitt who wrote a wonderful Mr Benn story and read it to Mrs Munt.
The Foundation Stage children worked with the rangers from Steel Valley making a bug hotel for our garden.
The Y1 and Y2 children’s exemplary behaviour was commented upon by the staff at the RSPB centre they visited this week. Well done KS1!
Staff from the City Learning Centre (CLC) have been working with the Y2 and Y5 children on an ICT project using Nintendo Wiis.
Don’t forget the Parent Maths Workshops on Tuesday. Parents of FS2 and Y1 children at 9am and Y2 and Y3 parents at 1.15pm – both workshops are in the Coumes Hall so get practicing your multiplication tables!
Y6 Bikeability training is on Thursday and Friday (8th and 9th, 15th and 16th). Course booklets will now be issued by the instructors on the first day of each course. Please check that your child’s bike is up to standard and that they are left in the walkway on arrival at school.
SYPTE are sending a bus into school on Wednesday to teach the Y6 pupils how to use the transport sensibly for when they become Y7s. They may well need to put this into practice on Monday 12th July and Tuesday 20th July when they spend the day at Bradfield.
We have been advised that school diners will increase to £1.92 per day/£9.60 per week from September. School Milk has been reduced by 2p per day and any refunds due will be sent home with your child as soon as possible.
Could we please ask that you come and have a look through the lost property in the Don building for any missing items as the box is overflowing again.
SOS are still selling raffle tickets for the wonderful summer hamper which is on display in the Coumes reception. Please return your ticket stubs and money by Friday 16th July for them to be included in the draw which takes place on Monday 19th July.
If you have any orders from the Suttons Seeds Catalogue could these please be sent to the office by Wednesday 7th July so that SOS can send the order off.
We are hoping that the school photos are going to be available to send home week beginning 12th July.
Due to insufficient numbers the Y4 & Y5 Transition meeting due to take place on Thursday 8th July has been cancelled.
The videos of Miss Lowey’s and Mrs Wilson’s classes performing their Madagascar 2 dance are now available to view on our website under Educational Activities.
A reminder that the deposit of £10 for the Y5 Thornbridge residential taking place in November need to be returned no later than Friday 9th July. If your child does not want to go on this trip we do still need the reply slip returning so that we are aware that you have received the information.
