It is ‘Maths Day’ on Thursday 11th February and we would just like to remind you that the children have been encouraged to come dressed up in something to do with ‘Money’ or numbers as that is the theme of the day. We are looking forward to seeing how inventive you can be. The children will be enjoying a performance of ‘The Countback Kid’ on Wednesday – if you have not sent in your donation of £1.75 please do so before Wednesday 10th February.

The Y3/4 children will begin their Maths Day on Wednesday morning and finish it on Thursday afternoon due to swimming lessons. The Y3 children may bring their costumes to school on Thursday and put them on when they return from their swimming lessons.

Praise Postcards have been sent home this week to Jamie Norris who has worked really hard both at school and at home and also to Alice Pearson for writing a brilliant story.

We would like to remind you that under no circumstances should parents be coming into school when collecting their children from an After School Club. All children will be brought to the door at the end of the session.

A group of Y8 pupils from Bradfield Secondary School are coming to work with some Y5/6 pupils on Tuesday 9th. We are looking forward to welcoming back some familiar faces.

The SOS Valentine Disco for the infant children is on Tuesday 9th February. If your child wants to come to the disco and has not yet bought a ticket please do so on Monday. Children are invited to change into something red for the event. Refreshments will be on sale but your child will need no more than £1 to spend. The disco will finish at 4.15pm and your child will need picking up promptly from their classroom or the main Coumes entrance as already detailed in the letter.

It was good to see so many parents at the Parents’ Evenings this week. We hope you had a chance to look at your child’s work, the displays around school and the photographs on the whiteboards in the classrooms.

Mrs Dent is taking a group of Y6 pupils to the City learning centre on Tuesday to edit a film they have been making. Don’t forget that they will need a packed lunch.

All pupils who have sent in their forms to join the Mad Scientist After School Club have been accepted and the club will start on Wednesday 24th February in Mrs Wilson’s classroom.

Could any Y3/4 pupils please bring in any money related board games, such as ‘Piggy Bank’ or ‘Pop to the Shops’ next week for their Maths projects.

Pupils in Y3/4JL will need to bring a plastic container on Wednesday for their Science lesson. They will know what sort of container they need and be shown an example.

If you have any old crockery with patterns on which you do not want anymore please bring it into school on Monday for a ‘digging’ project that the Y3/4 classes are doing.

Congratulations to Cheryl Davison who has won this months SOS Lottery and has received a cheque for £35. It is not too late to join for the rest of the year. Please ask at the Coumes office for details.

Don’t forget Friday 12th February is an In Service Training day for the staff and the pupils finish school for half term on Thursday 11th February.

Mrs Dent is still needing volunteers to help with the Book Fair on 25th and 26th February and 1st and 2nd March from 3.30-4.00pm. If you are able to help please see Mrs Dent as soon as possible. Thank you.
