NEWSLETTER FOR 8th MAY 2006

GENERAL INFORMATION

Tweak of the Week for week commencing Tuesday 18th April is ´Believe In Yourself´.  Good luck to all of our pupils taking SATs and optional SATs !!

Please could parents ensure children are not on school premises prior to 8.40am as there is no staff supervision before this time.

We have noticed one or two children wearing more than one pair of pierced earrings. May we remind you that pupils are only allowed to wear one pair of small stud-type pierced earrings. Thank you.

There will be no early morning MSL lessons for the next two weeks - commencing Monday 8th May and Monday 15th May.

Please can we again appeal to parents and carers to ensure they write the details of any payments being sent into school on the outside of the envelope. Education Department financial procedures require us to retain your envelopes as a form of receipt for money received into school and therefore we need the child’s name, class, what the payment is for and the amount enclosed, clearly marked on the envelope. This also acts as a fail-safe for yourselves in the event of any disputed payments.

The income threshold which forms part of the ´Tax Credit´ for free school meals and milk has been revised. Full details are available from Coumes Office.

As the sunny weather seems to have finally arrived, please could we ask that children bring a sunhat into school for use during breaktimes, this applies particularly for the Key Stage 1 children. Also, on the subject of summer wear, girls wearing sandals must ensure they are low-heeled, with closed in backs. All T-shirts must cover shoulders, and finally, the children should bring a labelled bottle of water to sip throughout the day to keep them hydrated (please do not send iced water as it causes condensation on the outside of the bottle which then leakes everywhere).

We are approaching Oughtibridge Gala again and are looking for this year’s Princess and Attendants. The competition is open to all Key Stage 2 children, but the Princess must be a Year 6. Application forms will be available from Mrs Pattinson in the Coumes Office from Monday 15th May, with the selection panel taking place in the Coumes Hall on Wednesday 24th May at 3.30pm.

Don’t forget Mayfest takes place in the Millenium Garden on Saturday 6th May from 1-4pm. There will be maypole dancing for the children if they would like to join in.

Worrall Male Voice Choir will be performing at Zion United Reform Church, Oughtibridge on Friday 19th May at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £5.00 for adults and £2.50 for children, available from 2862175 or 2863264.
