NEWSLETTER FOR 9TH JULY 2007

GENERAL INFORMATION

Tweak of the Week is ´Create a good impression´

Best attendance class last week – Mrs Bickerton/Butler’s class
Raffle ticket winner last week was – Cameron Hardy
Well done!

We are pleased to inform you that Mrs Lucas has made a full recovery from her operation and will be returning to work for the last week of term. Please note that Mr Milner will continue to teach the Y2 class until the end of the term as Mrs Lucas will be working elsewhere in school.

All the children will be moving to their new classes on Monday 9th July. Mrs Lucas will also be in school in order to ‘get to know’ her new class.

We apologise for the change in menus this week. This has been due to the loss of power to the fridges and freezer and unfortunately the cook has been unable to source fresh supplies in time.

As you know we have planned our Sports’ Days for Thursday and Friday afternoon (12th and 13th July), however we will be guided by the weather – if the grass has not dried out sufficiently the events may have to be cancelled. You will be notified by Tuesday if this is the case.

We are looking forward to seeing all parents/carers at the Celebration of Work afternoon on 11th July. Please feel free to have a look around both buildings where work is on display and slideshows of the children will be shown in the Don Dining Room and the Coumes Hall.

A reminder that there is a meeting for parents of Y2 children in the Don Hall at 3.30pm on Tuesday 10th July in order for you to meet the teachers and find out about ‘Life in the Juniors’.

Please note that any absences due to the power failure or floods will be classed as authorised absences. Anybody who had got 100% attendance prior to this difficult week and did not report any absences due to illnesses will continue with their 100% record.

Help is needed to keep the Foundation Stage garden looking nice and it was suggested at the SOS meeting that a set day each month will be set aside for anybody who is willing to come long and help out. The dates are Sunday 29th July and Saturday 1st September and then it will be the last Saturday of each month from then on. If you are able to help please ‘drop in’ between 10.30 and 12.30, bringing along any equipment you think you may need. Thank you.

Please ensure that all children have their PE Kit at school all week as timetables are subject to change and their PE lessons may change days.

There have been a few reports of lost property recently, particularly coats and bags. Could we please ask you to check at home to ensure you do not have any property which may have been taken home by mistake and return to either the class or the school office. Thank you.

We have had details from the Oughtibridge Cricket and Football Club to say that they are having a ‘Clean up Day’ on Saturday 7th July from 9am. If you are able to go along and help please take any rakes, shovels or wheelbarrows you may have – refreshments will be provided.
