Coumes: Music and Ribbons Don: Skipping Ropes
Celebration of Work afternoon is on Wednesday 14th July between 1.30 – 5.00pm (the gates will be open from 1.20pm). Please collect your child and their work from the classroom and use the Don Dining Room, Hall or Coumes Hall to look at the work together. If you are coming after 3.20pm you may stay in the classroom.
Thank you to all the parents who attended the Maths Workshops, I am sure you will have found them useful.
If anybody has taken a CRB request form but have not returned it yet please collect a new one from the Coumes office as the request form has now changed.
A reminder that the deposit of £10 for the Y5 Thornbridge residential taking place in November should have been returned by today. If your child does not want to go on this trip we do still need the reply slip returning so that we are aware that you have received the information.
The SYPTE sent a bus into school to ‘teach’ the Y6 pupils how to use the transport sensibly and safely.
Monday 12th July is ‘Move Up’ day when all the children will spend the day in their new class and the Y6 pupils will spend the day at Bradfield.
Following on from ‘Environment Week’ the children in Y4 and Y5 have produced ‘Graphic Art’ style posters on aspects of looking after the environment with Mr Askham. They have produced some stunning posters.
Adele Tuffin and Charlotte Copp represented the school at the Solar Powered Car Challenge at Bradfield School. The girls did very well competing with children from the other feeder schools. Well done Adele and Charlotte.
The Y6 Bikeability project is running on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th July.
The Y6 children all arrived back safely from their PGL residential visit. They had a wonderful week and behaved exceptionally well. Thank you to all the staff who accompanied the children.
The Y6 Leavers assembly on Wednesday 21st July will take place in the Don Hall and not the Coumes Hall as stated on the letter.
Congratulations to Julie Tuffin and Eleanor Jackson who have won the July and August SOS Lottery draws. Each has received a cheque for £35. Forms to join the lottery for the next academic year have been sent out this week, so if you would like to be in with a chance of winning from September please return your forms and money by 15th July.
SOS are still selling raffle tickets for the wonderful summer hamper which is on display in the Coumes reception. Please return your ticket stubs and money by Friday 16th July for them to be included in the draw which takes place on Monday 19th July.
We have been advised of some free dance classes throughout the summer at Deepcar Village Hall. They take place each Saturday from 24th July for 6 sessions from 10.00am until 11.00am. If you would like further information please contact Nikki on 2844071.
Following on from the Cricket Tournament which our Y5 pupils attended Oughtibridge Cricket Club are organising some sessions over the holidays. They are being held on Fridays from 6.00 – 8.00pm at the Cricket Ground and they will be a charge of £1. If you would like to book a place for your child please contact Chris Lingard on 2818271.
StarStruck are offering Summer Drama Workshops at the Burton Street Project during week commencing 2nd or 9th August. The workshops are open to children aged between 8 and 16 and cost £50 per week. For further details telephone 2320642.
Oughtibridge Parish Church are holding their Garden Party on Saturday at Anderton House behind the church starting at 2.30pm.
Any orders for the fantastic Y6 Memories CD need to be returned to the school office no later than Thursday 15th July to ensure that they can be delivered before the end of term.
As part of the Y6 Enterprise Scheme Emma Wall and Bradley and Ethan Webster will be selling buns at the Celebration of Work afternoon in the Don Building. Please support their ‘Ready, Steady, Eat’ project.
CLASS NEWS AND INFORMATION:

After School Club Information
KS2 Early Risers have now finished for the term.
KS2 Choir will be held on Tuesday lunchtime and not Wednesday next week.
