GENERAL INFORMATION

Well done!

Thank you to Mr and Mrs Smith for all their hard work during the Easter holidays in preparing and re-organising the garden for the children to use. Mrs Smith will be working with the Y6 Gardening Club on Wednesday lunchtimes and each year group on Wednesday afternoons. There will be lots of planting, tending and ‘harvesting’. We are looking forward to seeing fruits of their labours and watch out for news of produce for sale. Many thanks to SOS for supporting the gardening club by purchasing all of the gardening equipment and signage.

Well done to all of the Y5 pupils who participated in the Solar Car Challenge. The event was attended by the Headteacher and some of his staff from Bradfield School and they were very impressed by the oral presentations that the children gave to explain their project. An extra well done to Ben Postlethwaite, Charlotte Palmer, Holly Smith, Stephen Belk, Sam Gordon and Bethany Taylor whose solar car was judged to be the overall winner.

Foundation Stage are looking to borrow a small fish tank to use for their tadpoles. If you do have a spare tank please let them know. Thank you.

Please note that the new income threshold to be eligible to receive free school meals has changed to £15,575 from 6th April 2008.

SOS are holding their next meeting on Wednesday 16th April in the Don Building staff room commencing at 7pm. Details of the Fashion Show and forthcoming Marathon Challenge will be discussed. If you are able to help with either of these events please come along to the meeting or contact Catherine via the school office as soon as possible. Thank you.

The SOS Fashion Show tickets are selling fast so if you do want to come along please send your ticket requests in as soon as possible. Don’t forget both adult and child models are also needed!

SOS would like to thank everyone who ordered from the Phoenix Trading catalogue, a cheque for £24 has been donated to their funds.

Please note that class photos will be taken on Tuesday 22nd April. Pupils will need to wear their full school uniform on this day. Thank you.

The deadline for deposits for the Y4 Castleton trip was today, any payments that have not been sent please ensure that the office receives them on Monday morning or we will assume that your child will not be going.

Please note that the balance of the Y6 PGL residential needs to be paid by Friday 18th April.

Could you please ensure that your child brings a water bottle into school each day. Thank you.

CLASS NEWS AND INFORMATION:

Mrs Lucas’ class will be taken by Mrs Jackson on the morning of Monday 14th April.

Miss Wilkinson’s class will be taken by Mrs Butterfield on Wednesday 16th April.

Miss Stimpson’s class will be taken by Mrs Jackson on Wednesday 16th April.

After School Club Information

Please note that there will be no After School Clubs on Thursday 17th April (Line Dancing, Orienteering, Cookery) due to staff training. These clubs will be back to normal the week after. The Premier Sports Clubs on Tuesdays (Movement) and Wednesdays (MultiSkills) start again next week.

Steve Adams has spaces on both of his Football sessions (Wednesday KS2 and Thursday KS1). If you would like further information please contact the school office.

A reminder that the SAM Learning sessions are open to those who have previously attended.
