Well done!
Well done to the Y6 pupils (Emily Berrisford, James Morton, Rowan Horrocks, Connor McKay, Laura Helliwell and India Kirk) who took part in a problem solving day at Bradfield School on Friday 25th May. The Oughtibridge Team beat teams from Loxley, Bradfield Dungworth, Wharncliffe Side and Nook Lane schools. They had to put their Maths, Technology and Science skills to the test. Congratulations to the Oughtibridge Team who brought back the Champions Trophy, we are very proud of you.
Well done to all the children who went on the Thornbridge Residential during the last week of half term. They all worked well together and behaved very well. The teachers said it was a pleasure to take them.
The meeting for the proposed changes which could have potentially affected Bradfield Secondary’s catchment area took place on Monday 4th June. From the proposals, Option 1 was agreed upon and therefore our school will not be affected and the catchment intake from this school will remain the same as now.
Thank you to all the children who dressed up as Victorian children for their visit to Kelham Island. They really looked the part! Also well done to all the FS and KS1 children who have joined in the fun during their French Day today.
Thank you to all the parents who supported the running of the Marathon Challenge on Wednesday. The weather stayed fine and it was an enjoyable afternoon for all! Please send in the sponsor money to school on Monday 11th June making any cheques payable to Supporters of Oughtibridge School.
The SEAL theme for this half term is ‘Changes’. Over this period the children will be looking at change and the feelings it sometimes leads to, as well as how we can manage these and cope positively with changes in our lives. We have decided to focus on just 3 homework tasks this half term, and these will be sent home with the Friday newsletter, fortnightly. If you would like additional SEAL activities to do at home with your child please contact Miss Wilkinson.
The plants which were sent home before the holidays, to be looked after, need to be returned to school on Friday 15th June for judging to take place during that morning. Wendy Collins a school governor will be doing the judging – Good Luck!
We have been advised that there have been a couple of cases of headlice within school. By using wet combing regularly you can pick up infection early, treat immediately and help protect your family.
Thank you to everybody who contributed to the Bags to School collection in May, SOS have received a cheque for £85 to add to their funds.
A thank you to Perri Calderbank, Simon Vincent, and the Liversidge Family who very kindly spent several hours on a recent Saturday to work in the school garden. It is looking lovely and much better with no weeds!
