Children in Foundation Stage are visiting Anston House Butterfly Farm on Tuesday 15th June. They will need to wear appropriate outdoor coats and footwear and also bring a packed lunch with the. If it is a sunny day they will need to have had suncream applied before coming to school.
Some Y5 children are taking part in a Cricket Tournament at Oughtibridge Cricket ground on Wednesday 16th June. They will need to have their outdoor PE kit, a suitable coat, packed lunch and a water bottle.
We are looking forward to seeing you on Friday 18th June for our Football Themed Sports Day. FS and KS1’s event will take place from 9.30 – 11.00am and the KS2 events from 1.30 – 3.00pm. Please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school. We are hoping for a very sunny and dry day!
There is a meeting for the current Y4 parents and pupils on Monday 14th June at 3.30pm in the Don Dining Room regarding the Y5 residential at Thornbridge in November.
Some of the KS1 children are attending the Orienteering Festival at Bradfield School on Tuesday. They will need their school PE kit as well as a school sweatshirt. They will return to school at 5.30pm.
Praise postcards have been sent home to Abigail White, Lucy Yates and Francis Kenyon for playing the recorder brilliantly in the whole school assembly before half term. Eleanor Jackson and Ethan Ward have received postcards for working hard on their homework.
Well done to the Y6 Boys Football team who played at Wharncliffe Side on Friday 28th May. They won 7-4!
Just a reminder that the Y3 and Y4 children who are going to the Lyceum on Thursday to see Horrible Science will need to bring a packed lunch. They will return to school at approximately 4.15pm.
The Oughtibridge Gala Sports Night is on Wednesday 16th June in Coronation Park starting at 6.30pm. Kate Spencer, the Gala Princess and her attendants Lisa Calderbank and Anna Muirhead will be there helping with the proceedings. The Gala takes place on Saturday 26th June from 12.30pm.
May we please remind you again that no cars should be driven into the car parks at any time. When collecting your child from an after school club please park your car outside the school grounds as you would do at the end of the normal school day. Please pass this message onto to anyone who may be picking your child up on your behalf.
As we have received a few more orders for photographs we are sending one final envelope to the photographer. If you still wish to send an order please return this to the school office on Monday 14th June.
There will be no more KS2 healthy tuckshop due to lack of demand. Thank you to the School Council for running this for so long.
Congratulations to Helen Turner who has won this month’s SOS Lottery and has received a cheque for £33.50. Well done to Mr Coughlan who won the SOS World Cup Football Quiz and have received £10 and an England Home Party Kit.
Mrs Fillingham has generously donated an England Goodie Bag which contains a football, water bottle, a flag, pens etc which we would like to sell raffle tickets to raise money for SOS funds. Tickets will be on sale next week and children can buy as many as they like at 20p each. The School Council will be selling the tickets each day. The draw will take place on Thursday.
Any Scholastic book orders need to be returned to the school office by Monday 14th June.
MegaTravel Card application forms have been sent out to all the Y6 pupils. Please return the forms to school by Monday 21st June so that they can be posted on your behalf.

Worrall Community Association are holding their annual Scarecrow Festival and Treasure Hunt on Sunday at 3pm.
Could we ask that any Hot Shot Challenge sponsor money is sent into school by Monday 14th June.
The Flutter Butterflies which the KS1 children worked on will be fluttering in the Millennium Galleries this weekend. The Starlings which the Y3/4 children made as part of the Sheffield Children’s Festival will be on display in the Sheffield Cathedral from 16th June – 4th July. You can go and see if you can spot the ‘gold’ starling as well as your own.
CLASS NEWS AND INFORMATION:

Mrs Dent’s class will be taken by Miss Hand on the afternoon of Tuesday 15th June.
Miss Firth’s class will be taken by Miss Hand on the morning of Tuesday 15th June.
