NEWSLETTER FOR 11TH DECEMBER 2006

GENERAL INFORMATION

Tweak of the Week for week commencing 11th December is ´Be a good listener´

Could we please remind all parents who are collecting their children from after school clubs that the same parking arrangements apply as when picking up at the end of school. Please do not park in the staff or visitors car park. We have had an incident this week where a child was nearly knocked over whilst somebody was reversing out of a car parking space. Thank you.

We have had an incident reported to us from a resident on Birch House Avenue regarding pieces of asphalt being thrown and this has caused damage to their property. If anybody has seen anything or has any information regarding this incident please could you contact the Coumes office.

Extra tickets are available for all people who have requested them for the Foundation/KS1 performances. If you have requested extra tickets could you please bring the money to the Coumes office to collect them.

Congratulations to the Basketball team who’s behaviour and standard of play were excellent at the tournament on Monday. They are now in the finals on 22nd January. Well done!

Well done also to the choir who performed at the Young Voices Concert last week and in the Winter Gardens this week. They gave super performances and we look forward to reappearing at these events next year.

Just a reminder regarding recycling in Oughtibridge. You do not have to drive to Deepcar to recycle everything. The White Hart car park has skips for aluminium/tin cans, plastic and a bottle bank.

On the subject of recycling we will be collecting your old Christmas cards after the holidays until Friday 12th January. Boxes will be available in both the Coumes playground and Don playground (bottom) each morning before school. Please do not send them into school but put them straight into these boxes. Mrs Bastiani will collect the cards each day.

Thank you to those who donated so generously to the Poppy Appeal, we have raised £79.64.

From 10th January, a Fun Football Session with a softball will be held in the Coumes Hall 3.20 – 4.30pm by Steve Adams, a UEFA-B Level 3 coach (fully compliant with Safeguarding of Children regulations). This will be aimed at girls and boys in Y1/2 and held each Wednesday at a cost of £2.50 to be paid directly to the coach. Further details will be issued when we return in the New Year.

A huge thank you to all who brought in bags for the Bags to School collection on Wednesday. SOS will let us know how much was raised as soon as they receive the cheque.

A notice from Royal Mail regarding a postal scam.
A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service), suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 906 611911 (a premium rate number). DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER as this is a mail scam orginiating from Belize. If you do ring the number and start to hear a recorded message, you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call!
