NEWSLETTER FOR WEEK BEGINNING

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Thunk this Week is – ‘What would happen if everyone was a leader?’
Class with the best attendance last week was – FSCM
Well done!
Many thanks to all the parents who came to our Science Day. It was lovely to see you in school. The Magna Show ‘The Kitchen Sink Show’ was brilliant and the children thoroughly enjoyed learning in this way.
Next week is our ‘Friendship Week’ in which we will be tackling bullying as part of the National ‘Anti-Bullying Week’ and looking at how to make friends, be a good friend and include new friends. The teachers have planned lots of exciting activities and the children will have an opportunity to work with their ‘link’ class. We are also asking children to bring in their favourite book from home and a short, non-electronic game with them on Monday in a named bag so that they can enjoy playing and reading together during the week.
Next Friday is Children in Need Day and we are asking children to bring in a teddy and donate 50p to the charity. Mrs Revitt is also making Pudsey biscuits which are being sold for 25p each.
Could all Y4 children who go swimming please bring shorts and a t-shirt with them next Thursday for their lifesaving session.
We are very grateful to the milk monitors who come to school early each morning but can we ask that they do not arrive in school before 8.30am.
Please could you inform your child of any after school arrangements affecting them before they come to school each day. Unfortunately office staff do not have the time or capacity to do this except in cases of an emergency.
SOS are pleased to announce that the following people have been elected as officials of the group - Catherine Askham, Chairperson; Perri Calderbank, Treasurer; Tracy Harby and Joanne Eyre, Secretaries.
SOS are placing their order for the lovely Christmas and Chocolate puddings which will be delivered close to the end of the term. As they have to order by case size and not individually there will be a few spare. If you would like to ensure you don’t miss out then please collect an order form the Coumes office.
We would like to remind parents of children in Miss Lowey’s class that the parents’ meetings are taking place on Tuesday and Thursday next week. Letters confirming your appointments have been sent home via your child.
On Tuesday, selected Y3/4 children are attending an Athletics Festival at Bradfield School. Could we please remind those who are attending that they will need their PE kit including trainers and a water bottle. They will be returning to school at approximately 5.15pm.
Congratulations to Ethan McDonagh who gave the closest guess to the correct answer of 422 sweets in the jar. A total of £28 has been raised for SOS funds. Thank you to Mrs Fillingham for donating the jar of sweets.
Several teachers are concerned that children are forgetting to return reading books. We are having a ‘Return reading books to school day’ on Wednesday 18th November. The class returning the most books will receive the reward of an extra playtime. Please search your cupboards and bookshelves and return books belonging to school on that day. Thank you.
SOS would like to remind you of the excellent website www.easyfundraising.org.uk/sossheffield where you can log into the site and link to thousands of online stores such as Amazon, Argos and many more. Each time you purchase anything through the website a percentage is added to the SOS funds. In the short time we have been running this around £17 has been raised. Please use this website link whilst doing your online shopping – it is an excellent way to raise funds whilst doing your Christmas shopping and not costing you a penny more! You are also able to raise funds by using the search engine www.sossheffield.easysearch.org.uk
