Well done!

Once again very many thanks to Mr Sampson for all his hard work in ensuring that the paths were cleared in time to open school every morning this week. This is a marathon task and all his efforts are greatly appreciated. Despite the weather we have been able to open every day although Wednesday was one of the worst days as paths, pavements and roads were treacherous. We are sincerely hoping that next week will be better!

A reminder that Nick Williams will be visiting school on Tuesday presenting an illustrated talk to all children about Water creatures for KS1 and Living World for KS2. Photographs from the presentation are available at £1 each or 3 for £2.50 but need to be paid for on the day only.

On Monday the ‘Mad Scientist’ is coming to assembly to talk to all the children which I am sure they will enjoy.

If there are any outstanding orders for the Christmas DVDs could these please be sent to the Coumes office on Monday. Any orders after this will not be accepted as this will delay the production and distribution of the DVDs.

KS1 assessments take place between 19th April and 14th May and KS2 week commencing 10th May. Could we please remind you that requests for absence from school during assessment weeks will not be authorised. Nor will absences for Y6 be authorised the week before their tests ie week beginning 3rd May.

The Y6 Parents’ meeting regarding SATs will take place on Monday 18th January in the Don Dining Room at 5.00pm.

Foundation Stage would like any donations of trousers, socks, pants which you no longer need for their spare clothes box.

Thank you to all the parents who bought cards from the Christmas Phoenix Trading catalogue. £20 has been raised for SOS funds.

The Y3 swimming sessions have not yet commenced due to the weather conditions but we hope that they will be able to go ahead as normal next Thursday. Please ensure that your child brings their swimming bag with them.

The Netball team is playing at Stocksbridge High School on Monday and will need to bring their school PE kit. Please ensure you pick your child up promptly at 5.45pm from school. If anybody is able to help transport the children to and from the event and are CRB checked please see Miss Lowey.

A reminder that the Y5/6 Athletics Festival is now on Tuesday 19th January. Please pick your child up from school promptly at 5.20pm. Again if anybody is able to help with the transportation please see Miss Lowey.
