Following the Ofsted inspection this week we would like to say a thank you to all the children who spoke to the inspectors, they were congratulated in the whole school assembly on Wednesday. Thank you also to Hassan Jawad who impressed the inspectors with his power point presentation on World War II and thanks to Daniel Woolfall for impressing them with his school magazine. We are sure that you would like to thank all the staff who have worked so hard to ensure a successful inspection.
Don’t forget to bring your wellies to school on Monday for the start of Harvest Week. Any loose change you have can be brought into school during the week for each class to try and fill a welly to able to buy chickens, goats and cockerels for villages in Africa.
Please come along and support the SOS Autumn Fayre which is happening on Saturday in the Don Building between 2 and 4pm. There will be lots of games including ten pin bowling, golf, football and favourites such as hook a duck, tombola and lucky dip plus many more. There will also be refreshments, cakes and sweets for sale. The choir will also be performing at 2.30 and 3.15pm. All Autumn pictures must be at the fayre before 12.30 so that judging can take place, there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. All money raised will be used to provide Christmas entertainment and improve playground facilities.
Thank you to Perri Calderbank, Andrew Harrison and Simon Vincent who have worked very hard in the school garden to make it look so nice.
The Penalty Shootout is happening on Tuesday and Thursday. The usual school uniform is to be worn but please make sure that the children are wearing sensible shoes for the event. Any sponsor money raised needs to be returned to school by Friday 26th October. Thank you
Thank you to all the parents who attended the Reading Workshop on Wednesday, it was lovely to see you all in school again.
We would like to remind you that the deadline for payment of £24 for the Whirlow Hall Farm trip for Y3s is on Friday 19th October. Also £150 (including deposit) needs to be paid by Thursday 25th October for the Y6 PGL trip. Thank you.
Next week’s Lucky Plate day which is being run by Scholorest is on Tuesday.
If your children need to have medicine during the day could you please remind them to go to the office at lunchtimes for this to be administered. Thank you
LUNCHTIME SUPERVISORS
We currently have a vacancy for a Lunchtime Supervisor in the Junior Building for 5 hours 25 minutes per week (1 hour and 5 minutes per day) at £5.94 per hour with a pay award pending. We are also looking for supply lunchtime supervisors to cover when staff are absent, at the same rate of pay. If you are interested in either position or know of someone who may be, please contact Linda Hinchliffe in the School Office
CLASS NEWS AND INFORMATION:
Miss Lowey’s class will be taken by Mrs Butterfield on Monday 15th.
Mrs Sharp’s class will be taken by Mrs Williams on Wednesday 17th and Mrs Jackson on Thursday 18th.
Miss Churchard’s class will be taken by Mrs Jackson for the morning of Wednesday 17th.
A reminder that all Y3/4 children are visiting the Thackray Museum on Friday. Please ensure that the children bring along their packed lunch.
