Class with the best attendance last week was – Y5/6FM
Raffle ticket winner last week was – Joel Cutts
Well done!

I am very pleased to be able to inform you that the school has achieved a Quality in Study Support Award (QiSS). The school has received this award in recognition for all the work done outside the curriculum; this is all the extra curricular activities done before school, lunchtime and after school. I am sure you will join me in thanking so many of the staff that give up their own time to enrich the curriculum and extend the school for pupils.

If you have registered for Parentmail but are not receiving any of the letters being sent please contact the Coumes office so that we can check that we have your correct email address recorded.

Many thanks to Wendy Collins who has worked hard for the school in her capacity as Community Governor. Wendy has had to resign her position as she is moving South. We wish her all the best.

Well done to all the KS1 children who visited Eureka on Tuesday. They were a credit to the school and their exemplary behaviour was commented on by staff from Eureka.

Well done to all the Y5 children who were ‘evacuated’ to Thornbridge for the residential visit this week. They looked fantastic in their evacuee clothes complete with gas masks, cases and labels! Thank you to all the parents who supported us with this. Thank you to all the staff who accompanied the children. If you didn’t see Lord and Lady Firth – Delaney you missed a treat!

SOS will be selling biscuits on Friday for 20p each. All money raised will go towards paying for the entertainers for the Christmas Parties.

Some of the children have enjoyed extra ball skills sessions with Steve Adams this week. He will be coming in for another three Tuesdays so that all the children can benefit from his expertise.

We have been advised that there have been a couple of cases of headlice within school. By using wet combing regularly you can pick up infection early, treat immediately and help protect your family.

We have lots of lost property in both buildings. Could we ask that any lost clothing is collected otherwise they will be included in the Bag2School collection which is on Wednesday 4th November.

Could we please ask that all monies being sent into school are sent in a sealed envelope with your child’s name, class and details of the money being sent.

The final total that the Make, Bake ‘n’ Cake raised was £372.95. We have a number of un-named containers left in school. If yours has not been returned please come to the Don building to pick it up. Any unclaimed containers will be disposed of during half term.

The Y6s will be having their first SATs practice tests next week. They will be having Maths and English tests Monday to Wednesday mornings only.

Next week is residential week for the Y3 pupils. On the day of departure to Whirlow children need to remember to bring a packed lunch and ensure they have the correct clothing and suitable footwear. They will also need to have a school lunch or grab a bag on their day of return.

The new Tyre Park has been fitted and the lovely autumn weather has meant the children have been able to have a go on it. The Foundation Stage children enjoyed being taken out to watch the ‘digger’ and the fitting of the park.

The family group photographs have been sent home this week. Please check the website for all of the photos taken and place your order online for these if you would prefer. We can only accept orders for pictures that are on the proof card sent home and not those only available on the website. The deadline for all photo orders is Tuesday 20th October.

Parents must not take their children through the car park or up the drive, this is part of our Safeguard of Children Policy.

Please note that the gates to the school field will be locked at all times except between 9.15am and 3.00pm.

If you have any football boots that your child may have grown out of and not use anymore, Mr Delaney would be grateful for any donations.

The deadline for Y6 secondary school applications is today – Friday 16th October. Data supplied to us from ‘Choices’ indicate a significant number of pupils have not had an application successfully submitted. Please check that your application has been received at www.sheffield.gov.uk/pupiladmissions

We still have a number of data sheets that have not been returned. If you need a new copy please contact Mrs Pattinson in the Don office. All data must be amended before the half term.

A leaflet entitled My Holiday Activities has been given to all Y5/6 pupils. Unfortunately we do not have enough to give to the rest of the school but copies are available from the Coumes office if you would like to collect one.
