NEWSLETTER FOR 18th SEPTEMBER 2006

GENERAL INFORMATION

Tweak of the Week for week commencing Monday 17th July is ´Have The Confidence to Speak Up´

If you have a child born between 1st September 2002 and 31st August 2003, now’s the time to apply for their school place. Application packs are available from Coumes Office, you must complete and return your application form no later than 31st January 2007.

As a matter of urgency, may we remind parents that they must not bring vehicles onto the school premises – except in case of emergency. The narrow access road is for staff and delivery vehicle use only and the gates are locked between 8.35-9.00am and from 3.00-3.30pm. We must ensure the health and safety of our pupils and this road is potentially very dangerous for anyone on foot.

Also, please do not arrange to meet your children in the car park or on the access road for the same reason. The children are told that they are not allowed to walk through either car parks at any time - for any reason.

As promised, we now have details regarding guitar lessons at school. Our new teacher will be Miss Vawser and a number of places are available for Y3,4, and Y5 children who have their own guitar. If you are interested in receiving more information, please contact Miss Wilkinson (Y5/6 teacher) in writing by Monday 18th September. Pupils who applied unsuccessfully last year will be given priority.

If you are taking your child/ren out of school during the day, please ensure you have them signed out at either Coumes or Don reception. If they return, they must also be signed back onto the premises.

A special offer for our parents – Ultimate Beauty is now open at Chique Hair Salon in the village. A wide range of beauty treatments using Dermalogica and Opi products are available and if you take this newsletter, you will get 30% off your first treatment! Call 2864181 for appointments.

We have a supply of free vouchers for use by Y3-6 children to attend Stocksbridge Leisure Centre athletics sessions 3.35-4.45 on Fridays commencing 22nd September – any standard welcome. If you would like any, please send in an envelope marked Athletics Vouchers with your child’s name and class and how many vouchers you would like.
