Parenting Classes – There are still places available for the Parenting Classes course beginning on Wednesday 30th September between 8 and 10pm in the Coumes Hall. This is an excellent course for our community and a great way to reassure yourself, find new strategies and meet people. I recommend the course and know you will find it useful and informative. We look forward to welcoming you into school.
SOS would like to remind you that they are holding their Family Orienteering Event on Tuesday starting at 5.30pm. There will be games, hot dogs, refreshments and of course the orienteering course. Whatever the weather the event will go ahead so wrap up warm and bring your wellies if it rains!
Thank you to all the parents who attended the Initial Meetings for Parents – we hope you found them useful.
Mrs Marshall and a group of Y6 pupils are representing the school at a Modern Foreign
Language Event on Friday 25th September at the Library Theatre. We know they will put on a good ‘show’.
Well done to all the Y2 and Y5 children who attended the Sporting Event at the English Institute of Sport on Thursday. They were a credit to the school.
May we remind you that the children are not allowed to climb trees in the school grounds and would ask for your support in ensuring your child sticks to this important school rule when collecting your child at the end of the day. This mainly concerns the tree at the top of the drive.
Could we please remind all parents that when you are picking your children up from any after school clubs the staff and visitors car parks should not be used. Please do not walk your children through the car parks as cars are moving and deliveries are taken during these times.
We still need somebody to wash the FS and KS1 fruit on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please let the office know if you are able to help.
A reminder that all requests for absences (e.g. medical, holiday, music exams, etc) should be sent to school on the correct forms. These are available from either office or on our website under forms.
This half term Mrs Brewster will give out homework to her English set on a Tuesday to be handed in the following Monday, and Miss Wade with give out her homework to her Maths set on a Friday to be handed in the following Wednesday. This gives both teachers a chance to mark and return the work with the following week’s homework. All homework will have a return date on it.
We would like to remind parents that the final payment for the Y5 Thornbridge residential was due today. Any outstanding payments need to be returned to school on Monday. The total amount for the trip is £85.
Could we please remind you that all uniform should have your child’s name in them. We already have many items of clothing with no names in them so we cannot send them home with the correct child.
Some of our children follow an Intervention Programme in school called Rainbow Readers. It is designed to improve confidence and fluency in reading. The children listen to a taped story in order to enable them to become familiar with it before they actually read it. The scheme is being up dated however the stories are now on CDs and we are finding it difficult to purchase personal CD players. If anyone has any basic working players we would be really grateful. Please send them to Mrs Wilson.
Well done to James Liversidge who won this month’s SOS Lottery. He received a cheque for £28.50. If you would like to be in future draws please obtain an application form from the Coumes office.
The Phonics workshop for parents of children in Foundation Stage is on Wednesday afternoon at 1.45 in the Don Hall. We look forward to seeing you.
A reminder that the individual photographs and family groupings are being taken on Friday 25th. Please ensure your child is wearing the correct uniform. There are just a couple of places for the family groups on both the Friday evening and Saturday morning but please return your slip first thing on Monday to avoid any disappointment.
You should have received your appointment for Parents Evening and we look forward to seeing you.
Could I please remind parents to send signed permission slips back prior to the event taking place. We do not have time on the day of the event to ring parents. If there is no signed permission slip your child will not be able to take part.
If you have any clean and used toothbrushes please send them in to Mrs Wilson.
