Well done!

Well done to the school Netball team for their outstanding win over Stocksbridge Junior School on Monday. They played brilliantly and won 3-1. Thank you to Miss Lowey and Miss Higgins for training the team and organising the event.

Well done to the children who took part in the Athletics tournament at Stocksbridge on Tuesday night. They did very well and are through to the next round. Thank you to Miss Lowey for organising this.

Some 'snippets' of what the children do in their after school clubs has been put on the school website – you will find the film by clicking on the Education Activities link on the right hand side of the website home page.

Now that the weather is more settled the infant children need to line up as usual and be ready for learning to start by 8.55am. There are an increasing number of children arriving late. This is delaying the start of lessons and interrupts those that have already started. Please ensure your child is at school on time.

The Point Blank Theatre company are performing ‘Footsteps’ on Thursday 28th January beginning at 3.30pm in the Coumes Hall (remember to bring your ticket). Thank you to Miss Lowey for organising this.

To coincide with English Week we are holding a Book Fair in school. Just as last year it will be in school from Wednesday 24th February to Wednesday 3rd March. The Book Fair will be open for sales after school. If there are any parents who would be able to help on the afternoons of 25th and 26th February, 1st and 2nd March between 3.20pm – 4pm please let Mrs Dent know.

Mrs Ward has organised for her Hockey team to take part in a tournament on 27th January. The children will be out of school all day and will need a packed lunch as well as the sports kit which has been detailed on the letter sent home.

You should now have received your appointment for Parents’ Evening which take place on 1st and 3rd February.

Could we please ask for any Puffin Book Club orders to be sent to school by Wednesday 27th January.

Could the selected parents who have received a Y6 Springboard reply slip please return them on Monday. The letter was sent out on Friday 8th January.

We would like to remind parents that no dogs are allowed anywhere on school grounds at any time of the day.

For parents who are using Parentmail could we ask that you fully open the email as this then confirms to the school that you have received it and helps us to monitor the use of Parentmail.

Thank you to everyone who has purchased items from YellowMoon. SOS have received a commission cheque of £53.86.

Foundation Stage classes have had a number of clothes go missing after PE. All PE kits have been sent home today and we would ask that you check you have the correct kit and return any items that are not your child’s. All clothes and PE kits must have your child’s name on them. Please note name labels can be purchased via the school office should you need them.

We have been advised that Worrall Community Association are holding their pantomime ‘Robin Hood’ between 18th and 20th February. Tickets are available by telephoning Mrs Moorby on 2864354.

We have been advised of an E-Safety Workshop for parents entitled ‘How to be a Cyber parent’ which is to be held at The Megacentre on Bernard Road on Friday 12th February between 10am and 12.30pm. If you would like further details please contact Laurie Haynes on 2053902 before 27th January.

CLASS NEWS AND INFORMATION:

Mrs Wilson’s class will be taken by Mrs Butterfield on Friday 29th January.

Mr Delaney’s Monday Football will take place in the Don Hall at 12.30pm due to a rearranged staff meeting taking place on Monday after school.

Monday’s lunchtime recorder club will be in Mr Delaney’s classroom.
