GENERAL INFORMATION

The Thunk this Week is – ‘What if… We are thinking about eating breakfast before coming to school.’

Class with the best attendance last week of term was – FSCM
Raffle ticket winner last week was – Morgan Brown
Well done!

Welcome back after the Easter holidays.

Praise postcards were sent to Holly Tingle for doing lots of reading and filling up her reading record book, to Matthew Taylor for painting a beautiful picture and to Alexander Bourne for learning all his multiplication tables. Well done!

Well done to the 48 children who received silver awards for 100% attendance from September to April and the 60 children who have had 100% attendance from January to April. Certificates were given to each child at the end of last term.

SOS are holding their next meeting on Wednesday 28th April at 7pm in the Don Building Staffroom. Helpers will be needed for the forthcoming KS2 Karaoke and Disco due to be held on 20th May. If you are able to help please come along to the meeting or let Mrs Askham know in the Coumes office.

The KS2 Skipping Club will be displaying their skipping skills to the infant children during lunch (12.00 – 12.30pm) on Friday 30th April.

The Basketball Team are going to the Hotshots Final at All Saints School on Thursday. They will be leaving school at 2:50pm and it is hoped they will get back to school for 6:15pm. Children will need their school PE kit, including trainers and it may be sensible to take a plastic bottle of water and a snack.

There are still places available on the two Y6 Bikeability schemes which one will run on Thursday 8th and 15th July and the other on Friday 9th and 16th July during the school day with a charge of £2.50 for the necessary booklet. Anybody who is wishing to join the scheme will need to send a letter requesting a place to Mrs Pattinson by Wednesday 28th April. Unfortunately if there are no more pupils wishing to take up the offer of a place the scheme will have to be cancelled due to insufficient numbers of pupils involved.

We would like to make further use of our cassette players within school and wondered if anybody had any story cassettes which they no longer required. If you are able to donate any please send them to the Coumes office.

The Oughtibridge Gala Royal Family judging will take place on Wednesday 5th May at 3.30pm. If you are a KS2 pupil and would like to be a Gala Princess, Prince or an Attendant please collect an application form from Mrs Pattinson. The completed forms need to be returned by Tuesday 4th May.

Please note that any holiday requests for 2010-2011 cannot be processed until September and any requests during the first two weeks of the Autumn Term will not be authorised.

We have received information regarding a homework zone which is available in all local libraries everyday after school and on Saturdays. There will be support from staff as well as access to resources to help with revision. Please contact your local library for more information.

The children are not allowed to run up and down the banking leading to the infant playground. Please ensure your child does not do this before or after school – many of our daffodils and other plants have been damaged because children are on the banking after school. Thank you.

As the weather is getting a little warmer please ensure that your child brings a water bottle into school each day. We are not able to give out plastic cups to children who have not brought a drink with them.

After School Club Information

Monday’s Football club is cancelled due to a staff meeting.

Sewing Club is now on a Tuesday after school.

Any children attending the Friday morning Judo club may wish to bring along an extra drink and a small snack to have before starting school.
