NEWSLETTER FOR 26TH MARCH 2007

GENERAL INFORMATION

Tweak of the Week is ´Treat others as you would be treated´

SIMPLY THE BEST!
Congratulations to the Oughtibridge Primary School Basketball team. The Gifted and Talented squad became the ‘Hot Shots’ champions last night at the Hallam FM Arena. They beat Marlcliffe, Netherthorpe and Dobcroft to go through to the semi-final where they triumphed against St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic School (the team that saw them out last year). The nail biting final against Woodseats saw our champions secure the victory through persistence, determination, hard work, excellent team play and sheer talent. Very many thanks to Jan Frost who has coached the team. Thanks also to Lorraine Gayle and Mrs Butler, an all round team effort! We are now the proud owners of a huge gold trophy and are the best school in Sheffield at Basketball!

Well done to Faye Bird, David Frost, Arran Lamb, Georgia Gayle, Tyler Gayle, George Maris, Hannah Maris, Beth Addenbrooke, Isabelle Butler, Adele Finley and Thomas Harrison. Thank you also to all of those who have attended the practice sessions. We are all very proud of you.

Thank you to everybody who has bought raffle tickets for the SOS Easter Hamper draw. A whopping £265 has been raised and the draw will take place on Monday morning in the whole school assembly. If you would still like to enter please bring your tickets to the Coumes office on Monday morning so that they can be included in the draw.

As part of their Citizenship at Bradfield School, four of the pupils are organising an Easter Disco on Tuesday 2nd April at Worrall Memorial Hall, for 7-11 year olds. Leaflets have gone home today and tickets can be bought by calling Adam on 2863249. The disco is being run in aid of Cancer Research UK and Worrall Memorial Hall.

Would parents please note that children are not permitted to bring items to school to play with or show to other friends. Any such items will be confiscated and you will be contacted with a view to collect them. From time to time, we ask for items to be brought into school to enhance the delivery of the curriculum – you will receive a communication from school should this be the case. We have encountered a variety of problems in recent weeks where items being brought into school have either been dangerous, been broken, lost or stolen. We do ask for your support in this matter.

A reminder that medicines cannot be administered to children during the school day, the only exception being is if the medication has been prescribed by the GP to have 4 doses per day. If this is the case a form is available from the Coumes office which needs to be completed and signed before any medicine can be given.

Thank you to everyone who donated money for Red Nose Day last Friday. The final total raised was £443 including the sale of the noses. The school looked great all dressed in red.

Steve Adams is running a Football Fun Camp during the Easter Holidays for children aged between 5 and 12 at Tapton, King Edwards and Myers Groves schools. For more details please call 07815 307657. Please note that this information is being passed on to you by the school and parents will be responsible to ensure that any CRB checks have been completed.
