Well done to all the Y4 children who took part in the Castleton residential. They were a credit to the school. Thank you to all the members of staff involved in the visit.

Well done to Mr Delaney’s football teams. The Y5/6 girls won one match and lost one when they played Nook Land Juniors on Monday. The Y5 boys also won one match and lost one match on Tuesday at Nook Lane Juniors. Good luck to the Y6 boys who are playing tonight at Wharncliffe Side.

Well done to the Y4 tennis players, Finley Bates, William Coutts, Jessica Fillingham and Ellie Sleney who took part in a tournament at Stocksbridge High School last night. The children played brilliantly and came second in the competition.

Praise postcards have been sent home this week to Molly-Anne Palmer for a fantastic piece of artwork and to Matthew Taylor who wrote a brilliant story.

Parents of Y5 children, need to return the reply slip at the bottom of the letter regarding next year’s PGL residential visit outlining if your child is participating or not.

We hope all PE kits have been taken home for a wash over the holidays. Please ensure they are back for Monday 7th June.

The FS and KS1 Sports Day is now being held on the morning of Friday 18th June from 9.30 until 11am. Please see the letter sent home for more details.

The Hot Shot Challenge was really well received. All the children (and staff) did really well. Don’t forget to collect the sponsor money and return it to the school office after the half term.

Thank you to everyone who bought the plants which the children had been growing. A total of £90 has been raised which will go towards equipment for Environment Week in June.

A World Cup Themed lunchtime menu has been sent home this week asking if your child would like to participate. With this being a special week with more children wanting the lunches could we ask that all slips are returned by Monday 7th June so that Mrs Revitt can place her order.

SOS are holding their next meeting on Wednesday 9th June at 7pm in the meeting rooms in the Don Building (use the white door before the Don Hall and gates). Fundraising events for the next academic year are going to be discussed. If you are able to help in anyway please come along to the meeting.

We have been advised that there have been a several cases of headlice within school. By using wet combing regularly you can pick up infection early, treat immediately and help protect your family.

If your child would like to learn to play a musical instrument (Brass, Clarinet, Flute, Keyboard or Violin) during the school day next academic year please email The Music Service on musicservice@sheffield.gov.uk with your details and they will be able to advise if places are available. The children will learn in small groups of 2 or 3 for 20 or 30 minutes. The cost is £5 per lesson or £55 per term. The majority of instruments can be hired from the Music Service for an annual fee of £25 plus a refundable deposit of £40.

When we return from the half term break the Y3/4 children will be on first sitting for dinners and Y5/6 will be on second.

As the weather warms up it is even more important that your child brings their water bottle to school.

If you have any Tesco vouchers still at home please send them into the school office as we are 700 short for a huge box of lego!
