Well done to Mrs Ward’s Hockey players, they did very well in the Hockey Tournament and were a credit to the school. Thank you to Mrs Ward for organising this event.

Well done to the Y5/6 children who took part in the Athletics Festival at the English Institute of Sport – they did very well. Thank you to Miss Lowey for organising the event. Thank you to Mrs Askham and SOS who ensured the ‘Oughtibridge Olympians’ had matching team t-shirts. The children looked fabulous!

The Y5/6 children in MF and MD worked with Miss Lowey throughout last term for their PE sessions. In these lessons the children were learning elements of ‘Street Dance’, the children were thoroughly motivated and engaged in this contemporary style of dance and worked hard to choreograph a routine based on the Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ Dance. You can see these dances on the school website via the Educational Activities link. I am sure you will enjoy the children’s performances and agree with me that they did exceptionally well.

Thank you to everyone who attended ‘Footsteps’ on Thursday. Everyone enjoyed the production.

Due to long term illness we currently have a temporary vacancy for a full-time lunchtime supervisor in the infant building. The hours are 11.55 to 12.10 each week day with an hourly pay rate of £6.05 per hour. If you are interested, please contact Linda Hinchliffe in the Coumes Office.

Thank you to those parents who have volunteered to be SATs readers and prompters. Miss Firth will be in touch with you after the half term.

This week we have sent out ‘Treasure Chest Appeal’ envelopes on behalf of Heart Research UK. Could we please ask that any envelopes are returned by Monday 8th February.

This week I have sent home a postcard to Ella Broome who has been doing lots of fantastic reading at home and also to Samuel Brook for some excellent writing. Both children are in Miss Mettam’s class.

Thank you to everyone who donated clothes for the last Bags 2 School collection. SOS have received a cheque for £128.

There is a lot of lost property especially in the Don Building. Any unclaimed items will be sent with the next Bags 2 School collection.

We have been advised that there have been a couple of cases of headlice within school. By using wet combing regularly you can pick up infection early, treat immediately and help protect your family.

All the reply slips for Y3 children who are interested in joining in the Playball after school sessions must be returned to school by Monday morning.

All Y3/4 pupils must have their PE kit in school on Monday as they will be enjoying an extra session of PE on Monday afternoon.

A pair of size 6, black shoes in a gold bag have been found. If you think these may be yours please come to the Coumes office.

A couple of our Y6 pupils are involved in organising a drama and performance sessions at Worrall Memorial Hall on Thursdays between 5.30 and 7.00pm. These sessions are open to children aged between 10 and 14. Further information is available by calling 2315468.
