NEWSLETTER FOR 30TH OCTOBER 2006

GENERAL INFORMATION

Tweak of the Week for week commencing 30th October is ´To be Organised and Ready for Learning´

We are delighted to announce that approximately £1,000 was raised at the SOS Autumn Fayre. Thank you to everyone who helped at the event, and those of you who came along and spent your money! We will confirm the exact amount after half-term. The lucky programme number was 107 – please come in and collect your prize! We have a ‘Bonny Baby’ photograph which was entered into the competition but we have no name details, and we also found a Hallmark carrier bag of hair clips and bands – they are in the Coumes office for collection.

If you wish to pay for school dinners by cheque for next half term – the total cost will be £56.00 payable to Sheffield City Council please.

On Thursday 9th November we will be holding ‘Oughtibridge School Remembers’ – a night of remembrance featuring Oughtibridge School Choir, Deepcar Brass Band, the Brass Players, and chiefly – yourselves!! Starting at 7.10pm, tickets cost £4 for adults, £3 for children and concessions, and are available from the Coumes Office or by telephoning Rosey on 0773 6445294.

Gina Bastiani has been a Parent Governor for two years now. She has two children at Oughtibridge School – one in Y4 and one in Y6. She says "I have always tried to take an active interest in what goes on at the school with regards to my own children and after getting into discussions with other parents, I decided that I would like to extend that interest to the wide school community. I’ve always had a philosophy that you can’t expect to change things if you’re not prepared to become involved, and so when the opportunity came up to become a Parent Governor I applied. It’s good to be able to see the reasoning behind some of the decisions that sometimes parents see as unpopular, and it’s rewarding watching the school grow and improve all the time knowing that there’s a lot of hard work that goes on on our behalf ‘behind the scenes’. I am currently a member of the Finance Committee, which looks at the allocation of funds to the school and how and where it is spent to maximise the benefit to our children, and this year I will become more involved with the Curriculum Committee, where I hope I will be able to make some contribution to the huge amount of work that goes into ensuring that all our children reach their full potential at school".

The Friends of Bradfield School Association are holding a fashion show and designer clothing sale on Wednesday 8th November at 7.30pm in Bradfield School main hall. Tickets are £1.50 adults and £1 children and must be purchased in advance. Please contact Mrs J Yates on 2865010 for tickets and more details.

We have been advised that Haggstones Road/Boggard Lane will be closed and the bus services 58, 268, 269 and 201 will be diverted whilst Yorkshire Water complete their work from 19th October for approximately 12 days.

Half Term Holiday
