Message from the Chair of Governors

I became a Parent Governor when my sons were at school and, as I thought I should continue to use the experience I had gained, when they moved on to Bradfield Secondary, I became a Local Education Authority Governor at Oughtibridge School. I have always benefited from training, and am halfway through a BTEC qualification.

Governors work as a group with Mrs Munt, sharing the responsibility of using the money and resources of the school and staff to the best advantage in planning the children’s learning and wider development.

We are accountable to parents and the community and want to communicate effectively about the aims and methods of the school. We vary in knowledge and experience, but are all committed to improving the whole school and are willing to give time, both at our meetings two or three times a term, and in visiting the school to see how the policies and results of other decisions are working. Each Governor is linked to a class, so we are invited to lessons and special events.

If you have any questions, the Parent Governors are usually the best ones to talk to first, but we are all available to discuss important issues.

You can see who we are in the list (click the governors link on the left) and the committee on which we serve. As at the time of writing this message, February 2006, we have a vacancy for a Local Education Authority Governor, and are looking for someone, preferably without children here, who can look at our work with fresh eyes.

Should you wish to contact a school Governor, please contact the school for information.
