Who are S.O.S?

We are a growing group of parents who organise fundraising events to raise money to try and improve the everyday life of our children. We are always looking for new parents to try to help us increase our fundraising activities and help our children enjoy their life at their local school.

What we did in 2008/2009

The School Athletics Team is proud to wear the team t-shirts which SOS have provided for them

Fashion Show (April 2009) - children and SOS/parents model various items of clothing and these items can then be bought. We raised over £270 and everyone who went really enjoyed the occasion.

School Disco (May 2009) - 2 separate (FS/KS1 & FS2) after school discos were organised by SOS. These were a great success, the children really enjoyed the disco and nearly £500 was raised.

To coincide with World Book Day SOS organised a book sale. Books for children and adults were donated by parents and staff. Just under £60 was raised from this sale.

There were also a number of other small events we did throughout the year:

Advertising Booklet for local trades people and businesses raised £140. Thanks to everyone who placed an advert.
Sale of After Dark tickets raised £128
Bags to School
Christmas Pudding Sales plus a competition for the children to design a label for the puddings
Various Raffles
SOS Lottery
Yellow Moon and Initatives catalogue sales
Phoenix cards sales
And the very popular biscuit sales.

Plans for fundraising in 2009/2010:

We will be repeating some of the events above as they are very popular. We are also looking at the following:

Family Orienteering Event (took place in September 2009)
Ladies Night (Spring 2010)
Quizzes
FS & KS1 Valentines Disco
KS2 after SATS disco

What we did with the funds raised in 2008/2009

Nearly £4000 was donated by SOS in 2008/2009. The money has been spent on a variety of projects such as:

Pebble Art tree in the Don building playground
Ice-creams for all the KS & KS1 children on seaside day
Christmas entertainers
£2000 towards new books in both buildings
Gardening equipment and small playground equipment ie balls
Tripods and bags for camcorders
Digital blue cameras
Video camera and a big brother style chair
Fruity Friday - provided exotic fruit for KS2 on the last day of SATS week
And the list goes on....

What we have planned for the funds raised in 2009/2010

We will again be providing the funds for the Christmas entertainers (approx £500). You may also have seen the various signs that have appeared around the Don building playground. SOS have pledged £1000 towards these signs. Watch out for more popping up throughout the year. Further expenditure hasn’t been decided yet so watch this space.....
