Pupils are expected to change for Physical Education, apart from Foundation pupils (see below). Infants require PE plimsolls for outside PE in summer, but feet are bare for indoor PE. Children are not permitted to wear any jewellery for PE and must remove and replace their own earrings as staff are not permitted to do this. From the beginning of Y1, children are required to change into PE kit for PE. The kit is as follows: -
| Boys | White cotton T/shirt Blue/black PE shorts above the knee (nylon, elasticated waist variety, not fashion shorts) |
| Blue/black PE shorts (nylon, elasticated waist variety, not fashion shorts) | |
| Girls | Blue/black PE shorts as above. Girls may wear a black leotard for indoor PE if they so wish, but still need a T-shirt and shorts outdoors |
| All | Change of socks - preferably white |
| All | Suitable trainers/plimsolls are required for outdoors |
| Foundation | At the start of the first term in school, pupils do PE in their underwear, i.e. vest and pants. Could you please ensure that their underwear is substantial enough for this purpose and that they wear a vest on PE days if they do not normally wear one. It must be possible for vests to be tucked into pants. When the class teacher thinks it appropriate for pupils to start using PE kit she will advise parents. |
| Could you please ensure that their underwear is substantial enough for this purpose. It must be possible for vests to be tucked into pants. However, if you wish your Y2 child to begin to wear a PE kit and you feel that he/she is able to change quickly and independently for PE this will be quite acceptable. |
- A suitable bag (PE bags available for sale in school) to contain PE Kit, which can be hung on a peg in the cloakroom is advisable.
- Children are required to take care of their own equipment. The Y3 and Y4 pupils need swimming kit for weekly lessons at Stocksbridge Baths (transport provided free of charge).
- Please note that the school can order supplies of the dress code with the school logo. However, this is not compulsory as long as the children are dressed in the appropriate dress code for school.
It is essential that all clothing be marked with the child’s name.
